Catching Up On Some UFO's

Do you remember that Thursday Class Quilting Project I told you about back in August?  Well....What with my husband's emergency surgery that month and another stay in the hospital for him in early September, and then all of the usual stresses and strains that come as the holiday season draws near, I got a little behind...okay, a LOT behind in my quilting.

But I'm finally beginning to catch up on all the UFO's and thought I would show you the progress I've made on this Scrap Jar Quilt class project.  This is what it's going to look like when finished.  I decided I wanted to use lots of brights on a white background just like in the photo.

Lucky for me I'm not the only slow-poke in our group and we have gained a couple of new students who are just starting on the project so I'm not actually the last one to complete it.  I still have a ways to go but I am beginning to see some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.  You may remember I started out by making the 4-patch units...it takes 4 of these to make the unit but I forgot to take a photo of the unit so you'll need to use your imagination here.

Then I made the flying geese units, these were my favorite units, and added the corner pieces to them.

And then I stitched all the units together to get the completed block.

I have most of the giant eighteen inch blocks put together and have already picked out and purchased the backing for it (It's so bright and colorful!) so now I really am inspired to get busy and get 'er done.

If you'd like to make a Scrap Jar Quilt for yourself you can find a great tutorial at A Little Bit Biased Blogspot. And I hope you will share photos of your completed quilt.  I'd love to see them.

Here's wishing you a VERY QUILTY NEW YEAR!
